Excellent product from Bosch!
Great drill! I am Contractor and currently own the 36v Bosch litheon drill (Dewalt XRP before that), but I got tired of using it for smaller projects like hanging doors and installing cabinets due to it's bulky size and weight. I now find myself using this drill for everything. It has an excellent power to weight ratio and is very smooth/refined. I have the slim pack batteries and they hold a good charge. I will still keep the 36V around but it may end up collecting dust. I have only owned the 18v for two weeks now so I can't comment on it's long term reliability, but I have used it for sinking numerous 3" deckmates into framing lumber, speedbores, small holesaws, backerboard screws, and other fasteners. I can't comment on it's mixing ability (mortar and other cement mixtures), but that's what electric corded drills are for. As an every day user, I am very happy with this purchase.

Excellent drill
Used it to build 4 picnic tables from Rockler plans in a college class. Four work crews, 3 days, hundred of screws in green treated lumber, one charge. Amazing torque, did not need to recharge. Students are Construction management majors and future shop teachers. They were impressed, as was I. Preschoolers came and helped assemble the tables (donated to their preschool) and the clutch worked well to allow the screw to be driven to the correct depth. I love this drill. Oh, and the light is sweet when working in dim areas.

great power - needs better grip design
I purchased this drill along with a Makita BDF452 and gave both a workout in my garage. My test used 2"x6" pressure treated lumber. My goal was to test power, battery endurance and comfort of use. With both drills, I drilled qty (10) 1" spade bit holes, qty (20) 3/8" bit holes and sunk qty (75) 2" drywall screws. My hand and arm were tired so I quit, but suffice it to say, neither drill quit, so I called battery endurance test a tie. I believe the Bosch had slightly more power and speed, but the Makita had plenty of both for my needs. Both drills gave your arm a good twist when the spade bit would catch and hold. In a close race, I declared the Bosch the winner in power category. The Makita was clearly a more comfortable drill to use. It fit my hand well and the trigger was easy to use. The Bosch handle is configured at a bit of an angle and while using the spade bit the back of the drill seemed to press into my hand. A real workhorse!
I'm building a large deck out of 2x treated boards. Am now working on my second 25# box of screws. One battery charge lasts me most of the day putting in these screws. Only caution: this is a heavy drill! But like every Bosch tool I have, it gets the job done.

Excellant peice 4 1/2 stars
This is a great go to drill for concrete, stone and light structural steel. I haven't used it on anything heaver than a small I beam but it did 1/2" holes just fine with a good bit. This is a good all around replacement for a 3/4" HD drill or even a 1" in some cases. The trigger pull is nice and makes slow starts easy. The side handle is friction fit so it can be anywhere except directly in front of the trigger (you can put it there but it interferes with the trigger and visa versa). This is a viable replacement for a ¾" drive drill (my old Craftsman finally gave out) and it does a better job on concrete and stone. If you are looking for something that does 1" or larger holes this is not it (well occasional 1"); but for more mundane work its just fine. The case is well made and the keyless chuck works just fine. Great warrantee.Now the down side (not much):Its large and heavy, not quite as big as my old sears ¾" but weighs a little more with the battery...

What is in a name?
This is a positive review for Bosch tools. The problems I had are because of my own lack of knowledge. I did a reasonably good search for information; just not quite good enough. That cost me a lot of time, so I decided to write this; because I didn't encounter information, even in Wikipedia, that really enabled me to understand what tool I needed for my application.My son and I wanted to build a deck together. The location is bounded on two sides by concrete foundation, so we decided to put in about 50 feet of pressure-treated 2x10 for a ledger. This was to be attached to the 30-year-old concrete foundation by 20 or so 1/2-inch anchor bolts drilled in about 3.5 inches. The concrete contains quartzite gravel and also plenty of rebar.This is the environment into which the Bosch Brute-tough hammer drill with a Bosch carbide SDS+ 1/2-inch bit was placed into service. Best Bosch Cordless Drill Design to Date
I purchased this drill at Lowe's. As of June 5th, 2011 They must have an exclusive because no one else stocks it and it is not even listed on the Bosch website (US) as I write this review.Details not listed on the web: Max Torque: 600 in/lbs., Speed: 500/1700 rpm, Chuck: Rohm brand plastic ratcheting single sleeve (1/16-1/2" capacity), Accessories: Metal belt hook not shown in product photos (same as the impact driver belt hook). So far.... Love it!
Have not had long, but so far this thing is a jewel as far as tools go. For the power, it's lightweight and very well balanced. The reason I got this instead of a Dewalt was because this is so evenly balanced in your hand. The Dewalt was very front heavy. This one has great power and torque. The battery life seems long so far, and I love that it comes with 2 batteries so you can just swap out. The slimline battery saves a ton on weight and bulk. Granted, I'm coming off of having a BD cheapo drill for the last 10 years, but I am thoroughly impressed with this drill. I will not be able to go back to a lesser drill.

Superior Craftsmanship proven in a smooth quiet powerful drill
alright this is actually the first review i've ever written so sorry if it is confusing. But I've been a dewalt man for years and we have seven dewalt cordless drills. Recently I decided to try the new bosch litheon ion drills since they claimed to be the best made. Well this drill did not disapoint! First off this thing is made in switzerland and when you look at it you can tell by the fit and finish. In other words this is very well built and will last for many years. The next thing that I noticed is how smooth this thing is and how well the variable speed trigger works. It is very easy to control how fast your screw goes in where as my dewalts are a lot more touchy. Don't get me wrong I love dewalt and still do but you can't beat the quality and smoothness of this bosch drill. When you pull the trigger it is so quiet that it makes you think that it is not as powerful as the dewalt but in my comparison tests it puts in a screw just as fast! I also like how the light is on the bottom...

Powerful, Professional Drill/Driver
I use this drill daily as a professional and have been extremely impressed with its power and finesse. I reluctantly shelled out the dough for this after semi-retiring my Makita 14.4v NiMh drill driver, which had been excellent. Here is a general breakdown of my impressions gained through experience with the tool:The Good:1. Powerful! My old Makita would get hot and wheezy when using a 5/8 electrician's wood auger after using it on only one 2x4 stud. My first experience of this Bosch was using an old and dull 3/4 inch butterfly wood bit to bore through eight old 2x4 studs. I expected the drill to work a little bit, but it powered through the wood so fast it was silly- no bogging, no drop in RPM, no effort. I actually checked the wood to make sure it was sound and not full of termites. This tool has the power and torque you would expect from a professional-grade, medium-duty drill/driver, and then some.2. Smooth - Or maybe you can call this...

Great drill but excessing chuck runout
I have purchased several of these drills and had to return about 2/3s of them for excessive chuck runout. Basically, this means the drill bit wobbles around an excessive amount. I previously owned a 1995 era Milwaukee that was Made in Germany and even after 15 years and countless drops, it was dead-on.These drills are labeled as Made in Switzerland which is why I bought them (trying to steer clear of the sea of Made in China tools). Sadly, Bosch does not live up to its name or country of origin with the drill chucks. This has been a problem for years with Bosch drills it seems (Google for PS30 or PS31 -- same problems).Otherwise, it's an excellent tool. Batteries last a long time and has lots of power. 3" deck screws into sopping wet lumber is no problem. Just check for runout and be ready to return several of them until you get one that does not have the runout problem).** If you work for Bosch ** -- PLEASE PLEASE send this note to someone...

18 V Cordless Drill Driver 37618-01
I wanted a drill that would have enough power to drill through wood joists in my attic and that would not run out of juice too often. I have used the drill for several weeks and find it to be everything I had hoped it would. I like the size; it is bigger than the run of the mill drill I see at HQ and Lowes. The light built into the base is a nice touch; it helpsout in low light conditions. I felt comfortable with Bosch as I have had a corded drill of theirs for about fifteen years. I have also used and appreciated their hammer drills.

Expected a bit more
I expected this drill to be as good or better than our previous 18V Bosch Brute Tough Drill, this one being the Litheon powered drill. The power doesn't seem as strong, and the battery life is shorter instead of longer, especially when compared to the Blue Core Battery we had for our last drill. Would have bought the same thing I had before now looking back, and that would have saved us money as well.

Has been working great.. just no screwdriver bit storage....
The reconditioned drill works great, and it came with the drill, battery and charger, and a magnetic bit holder and screw driver bits.The problem is the magnetic holder doesn't seat in the plastic case, so it rolls around inside. It would have been nicer had the drill come with the type of bits that fit on the drill itself for storage, but thats rectifiable. Well worth the savings. Given that a simple 16.8v replacement battery for my Sears Craftsman would have cost $65 for one battery, this was a no brainer.
